& Self-Directed Attention

Is There Another Way?

Imagine the perfect life for yourself from beginning to end. Take a few moments to figure it all out, all the great and wonderful things that would happen. Now ask yourself: is it possible you’re missing something? Is it possible your life could unexpectedly unfold better than your best plan ever could predict? Often, the best things in our lives are not situations we planned for or circumstances we thought we wanted, but experiences that we treasure nonetheless.

The Importance of Developing Equanimity

As we chase our likes and avoid our dislikes, we rapidly lose sight of our best interests and become increasingly unable to embrace unknowns. Our lives become one positively stimulating event to the next as we lose opportunities for fulfillment and potential. Equanimity and mindfulness training brings balance and healthy discernment to oppose reactive and disadvantageous behaviours.

Mindfulness Training & Practicing Equanimity

With a strong practice of self-directed attention and mindfulness, we can cultivate a state of equanimity. The conscious and intentional shifting of attention allows individuals to explore their aversions and cravings with voluntary openness rather than reactive behaviour. This is the middle way, the perfect surrender, the empowering mastery of self-control. This is equanimity, a certain non-reactive sense of flow that allows us to both clearly see and embrace what is not only in our own individual best interest but also in those within our realm of influence. In all our programs, we guide you through this process so you may remain grounded in understanding rather than reactive in habitual thought patterns. Everything You Need To Know

Through the power of observation and patience, individuals can learn to respond rather than react. The development of choice is present in all our programs and practices at EASE Equanimity & Performance Coaching.
Our practices involve the basic physical movements combined with sitting and walking meditation. No extensive strength or athleticism is required to participate in these actions.
Mindfulness emphasizes the ability to be consciously aware of what is happening within a field of experience, while equanimity allows awareness to be even and unbiased by facilitating an attitude of non-attachment and non-resistance.
